Program Overview

I Can is an app-based, prevention-focused youth wellness and health equity initiative designed to empower children and adolescents ages 5–17 with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to build healthier bodies, stronger minds, and lifelong healthy habits.

The program was created to address rising childhood obesity rates, mental health concerns, and health disparities affecting underserved communities by making wellness education engaging, accessible, and empowering for youth and families.

Through an interactive 8-week wellness experience, participants engage in nutrition education, physical activity, mental wellness support, self-esteem development, healthy habit tracking, and family engagement activities designed to encourage lasting healthy behaviors and long-term well-being.

By combining prevention-focused education with engaging tools that support habit formation, I Can helps children move beyond simply learning about health to actively practicing healthy choices in their everyday lives.

Why Prevention Matters

Research consistently shows that many chronic health conditions including obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and certain mental health challenges often begin with patterns established during childhood. I Can was designed as a preventive health initiative that equips children with the tools and knowledge needed to make healthier choices before long-term health problems develop.

How the Program Works

I Can is delivered through an interactive 8-week wellness journey designed for children and adolescents ages 5–17.

Participants complete age-appropriate lessons, fitness activities, wellness challenges, and healthy habit-building exercises through an engaging app-based experience that encourages consistent participation and growth.

The program is designed to be flexible and sustainable. While the core principles of prevention, healthy living, emotional wellness, and confidence building remain consistent, content can be refreshed and tailored by season, semester, school year, or community initiative.

This allows schools, clinics, and community organizations to implement the program multiple times throughout the year while providing participants with new lessons, challenges, and engagement opportunities that reinforce lifelong healthy habits.
